The Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR) requires all public water supply systems supplied by a surface water source or a groundwater source under the direct influence of surface water to have sufficient treatment to achieve a defined level of removal and / or activation of Giardia Lamblia cysts and achieve a defined level of removal and / or inactivation of viruses. The water system's disinfection and filtration treatment must be sufficient to meet these requirements. To demonstrate that adequate disinfection is provided, certain CT (disinfectant mg/l X contact time minutes) values must be maintained at maximum hourly flows. CT tables are provided for compliance with the SWTR that must be interpolated for concentration, pH, temperature, etc. These calculations performed manually are tedious, repetitious and prone to error. It requires repeated table lookups and interpolation of values for pH, temperature and disinfectant concentration. TESCT simplifies these calculations by providing automatic lookup and interpolation of the table CT values.
